Wooju Baik – Conductor
Winner of 1st Prize at the 8th Ionel Perlea International Conducting Competition, along with the Orchestra Prize and special awards from the State Philharmonia Brașov. The previous year, he was named the inaugural winner of the 1st Romania Conducting Competition.

Korean Conductor Wooju Baik, he has built an international career, performing with distinguished orchestras across Europe, including prominent ensembles in Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, and the United Kingdom. He continues to expand his artistic presence on the global stage. Particularly drawn to the operatic stage, he pursues opera with deep passion. His repertoire includes Tosca, La Bohème, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Don Carlos, L’elisir d’amore, Die Zauberflöte, Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni. This repertoire demonstrates both his artistic versatility and his dedication to symphonic and operatic music alike.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Conducting at the Royal College of Music with a scholarship, studying under Toby Purser, Peter Stark, and Howard Williams, and has also received mentorship from Colin Metters, Martyn Brabbins, Speranza Scappucci, and Vassily Petrenko. He has gained professional experience as an assistant under Michalis Economou, and currently serves as Assistant Conductor of the Orion Orchestra in London alongside Toby Purser.
